Event boundaries
Define the temporal, operational and participant boundary for the event. Record included sources, category exclusions and reasons for those exclusions.
Calculation methodology
The platform is designed to make the event boundary, activity data, proxy use, factor references and offset evidence visible. It does not claim universal compliance, certification or guaranteed accuracy.

Method
01
Define the temporal, operational and participant boundary for the event. Record included sources, category exclusions and reasons for those exclusions.
02
Prefer actual activity data such as meter readings and booked room nights. Use organizer estimates next, followed by documented default estimates when necessary.
03
Apply category-appropriate factors from published sources. The current engine records source families for grid energy, fuels, aviation, rail, road, hotels, catering, waste, materials, freight and digital activity.
04
Convert activity quantities to kilograms of CO₂ equivalent, aggregate source and category totals, and display tonnes of CO₂ equivalent for event-level reporting.
05
Show proxy methods, default values, occupancy assumptions, journey directions and any other choices that materially affect the result.
06
Distinguish actual data, organizer estimates, default estimates and excluded sources. Data freshness belongs with the reported result.
07
Keep on-site, virtual, attendee, speaker, staff and supplier activity distinct where their sources or collection methods differ.
08
A planning calculation is not a final footprint. Replace forecast inputs with actual post-event records and retain the state of each input.
09
Recalculate when the boundary changes, material data is corrected or actual records replace estimates. Generate a new report version after material changes.
10
Allocate carbon-credit quantities against the residual footprint after reduction activity is recorded. Retain project and quantity details.
11
Treat purchase, allocation and retirement as separate states. Documented net-zero completion requires the relevant retirement record and evidence.
12
Keep the generated timestamp, underlying event state and version history so a report can be traced to its calculation and evidence.
Current factor families
Quality controls
Use actual quantities wherever the organizer, venue, supplier or participant can provide them.
Keep organizer and default estimates visible so a reviewer can understand uncertainty.
Recalculate and issue a new report version when actual data or offset evidence changes the result.
Create the event, calculate emissions, plan reductions and maintain a documented path from residual emissions to retirement.
